Murder Investigation Opened After Bolton Man Found Dead; 15-Year-Old Detained

Police say a post-mortem and new information prompted detectives to open a Major Incident Team inquiry and seek public help to establish what happened.

  • Officers found a 50-year-old man dead at a Gray Street property on 30 June with serious head and chest injuries, police confirmed.
  • Following a post-mortem and new information received, Greater Manchester Police formally launched a murder investigation on 21 July.
  • A 15-year-old boy has been detained under the Mental Health Act and will be questioned by detectives in due course.
  • Detective Chief Inspector Louise Edwards said the inquiry is being led by GMP’s Major Incident Team, that the incident appears isolated, and that officers are not seeking anyone else.
