Overview
- Officers found a 50-year-old man dead at a Gray Street property on 30 June with serious head and chest injuries, police confirmed.
- Following a post-mortem and new information received, Greater Manchester Police formally launched a murder investigation on 21 July.
- A 15-year-old boy has been detained under the Mental Health Act and will be questioned by detectives in due course.
- Detective Chief Inspector Louise Edwards said the inquiry is being led by GMP’s Major Incident Team, that the incident appears isolated, and that officers are not seeking anyone else.
- Police have asked anyone with information to contact GMP on 101 quoting log 3965 of 30/06/26 or to call Crimestoppers on 0800 555 111 while forensic and witness enquiries continue.
