Murder Inquiry Opened After Man Dies Two Years After Oldham Night-Out Attack

Home Office pathologists completed a post-mortem to help determine whether the 2024 assault caused his death.

Overview

  • Ramon “Ray” Logan died on June 30 at age 42 after two years of hospital care and treatment for severe, life-changing head injuries sustained in a July 2024 assault.
  • CCTV from the night showed a man later identified as Sebastian Jones leaving a nightclub, approaching Logan and striking him, after which Jones continued to assault the fallen victim.
  • Jones evaded police for about a week before being arrested in Bury, was tried over three days, convicted of section 18 wounding with intent and jailed for seven years in April 2025.
  • Greater Manchester Police have reopened the case as a murder inquiry, say a Home Office post-mortem has been carried out and detectives are reviewing all available forensic and evidential material with no arrests so far.
  • Logan’s family have called for justice and police say they will keep the family updated as enquiries continue, a process that could lead to further forensic work and potential charges depending on review findings.
