Murder Inquiry Launched After Failsworth Stabbing Victim Dies

Greater Manchester Police have asked the public for footage and witness help so detectives can identify those responsible.

  • Emergency services attended an altercation on Hale Lane in Failsworth and found a man with stab wounds who was taken to hospital after the June 19 incident.
  • The man died in hospital on July 4 and has been named by police as 40-year-old Steven Dossett.
  • Detectives from GMP’s Major Incident Team have opened a murder investigation and the senior investigating officer, Detective Chief Inspector Anna Barker, called the attack shocking.
  • Four men and one woman previously arrested on grievous bodily harm and assault charges have been released on bail while enquiries continue.
  • Police are asking people to submit CCTV, doorbell or dashcam footage and to contact GMP via 101, live chat, the MIPP online form quoting log 3924 of 19/06/26, or Crimestoppers; specialist officers are supporting the victim’s family and investigators say further enquiries are ongoing.
