Overview
- The city announced on July 17 that, weather permitting, it will set up a temporary inbound bus lane from July 21 between Reisingerstraße and Sendlinger Tor to speed the Schienenersatzverkehr that runs while Goetheplatz and Poccistraße are rebuilt.
- As part of the change the existing on‑street cycle lane will be closed and cyclists will be required to use the side pedestrian/cycle path while traffic signals at Lindwurmstraße, Reisingerstraße and Ziemssenstraße are retuned to ease merging.
- Cycling advocates led by ADFC Munich chair Andreas Schön say the side path is underdimensioned and partly damaged and warn that moving thousands of riders off the protected lane will raise safety risks.
- City officials and the MVG point out this step adds to earlier measures such as a new SEV stop on Sonnenstraße, a relocated Goetheplatz SEV stop and extra Ordnungspersonal and announcements to reduce delays and conflicts.
- The city describes the measure as temporary and tied to the station works expected to continue into 2027, and it says the scheme will be reassessed as service returns or at project milestones which could affect how long the cycling changes remain in place.
