Overview
- On July 20, a 25-year-old Jogeshwari West resident downloaded the 'Cash Loan' app via Instagram and shared Aadhaar and bank details for a ₹2,000 loan but received only ₹1,300.
- As repayment neared, a caller claiming to represent the app threatened to post morphed nude images of her on social media if she did not return the balance immediately.
- Under duress, she transferred a total of ₹2,000 in two separate payments to an individual identified as Sandesh Kumar via a payment app.
- Shortly afterward, the morphed photograph was circulated via WhatsApp to her aunt and two friends by an unknown sender.
- A First Information Report has been filed and Mumbai Police are probing the app’s operators, with no arrests reported.
