Mumbai Suburban Rail Announces Overnight Saturday–Sunday Blocks for Bridge Work and Platform Upgrades

The work targets girder removal at Prabhadevi alongside Central Railway platform extensions.

Overview

  • Western Railway will suspend ChurchgateDadar suburban services from 1:30 am to 6:00 am to de-launch a girder at the Prabhadevi (Elphinstone Road) overbridge, with at least 45 locals cancelled and some trains short-terminated or reversed.
  • Matunga Road and Mahim will not be served during the Prabhadevi block, and selected services will turn back from Dadar and Bandra.
  • A separate jumbo block on Western Railway’s fast lines between Borivali and Bhayandar will run from 12:15 am to 3:45 am, diverting all fast trains to the slow line between Virar/Vasai Road and Borivali.
  • Central Railway will enforce a special traffic and power block from 12:00 am to 10:00 am for platform extensions between Mulund–Thane and Diva–Dombivli, cancelling all slow locals on the affected stretches and diverting some services via fast lines with skips at Kopar and Thakurli.
  • Mitigations include temporary fast-local halts at Kalva, Mumbra and Diva, short terminations and altered originations at Kurla, Thane, Kalyan and Mumbra, minor delays of about 15 minutes, selected Mail/Express regulations and rescheduling, and no daytime suburban blocks on Sunday as clarified by Western Railway.
