Overview
- Western Railway completed an overnight girder-launch at Marine Lines during the intervening night of May 30–31, which led to late-night cancellations and short-terminations on the Churchgate corridor.
- Railway officials said crews installed 19 steel girders for a new 12-metre-wide foot over bridge using two 500-tonne cranes, two hydra cranes, one tower wagon and a 60-person workforce.
- Central Railway implemented a planned mega block on May 31 on the CSMT–Vidyavihar slow main line and the Kurla–Vashi Harbour line that diverted slow trains to fast lines and suspended several Harbour services.
- An unplanned overhead equipment fault between Sion and Matunga on May 31 caused additional delays and brief passenger stranding of about 10–25 minutes at stations including Dadar, Parel and Matunga.
- Authorities ran special trains and allowed Trans-Harbour routing to reduce commuter impact and said the works form part of wider station upgrades intended to ease congestion and improve safety.
