Overview
- Mira Bhayandar Municipal Corporation confirmed a full-day shutdown across Mira Road and Bhayandar for planned maintenance, with officials warning that the separate MIDC line will not meet full demand and many homes will see low pressure.
- Brihanmumbai Municipal Corporation announced an 18-hour suspension in parts of south Mumbai to install two 1500 mm butterfly valves on the Sewri tunnel–Bhandarwada Hill Reservoir pipeline at Haji Bunder Road.
- BMC said areas in A, B, C, E and F-South wards will either lose supply or receive low pressure, with localities such as CSMT precincts, Masjid Bunder, Dongri, Kalbadevi, Byculla, Sewri, Wadala and Dadar named in civic notices.
- Major hospitals including KEM, Tata Memorial, J.J., Nair and Kasturba will remain connected but on reduced pressure, and residents are urged to store water, use it sparingly and boil or filter drinking water for four to five days after service resumes.
- Installing large butterfly valves lets engineers better throttle gravity-fed flows from the Bhandarwada, Fosbery and Golanji hill reservoirs, a routine step that can steady distribution over time but requires short planned shutdowns now.
