- Federal data in mid-July 2026 show 1,645 laboratory-confirmed Cyclospora cases since May 1 with more than 5,100 additional reports under investigation across about 30–34 states.
- Michigan has emerged as the outbreak epicenter, reporting several thousand cases after investigators completed more than 1,000 patient interviews that frequently listed lettuce or salad greens in recent meals.
- Officials are examining multiple supply chains and reports that include a major fast-food chain, but no specific product, producer, supplier or national recall has been confirmed and the chain says health authorities have not linked it definitively to the outbreak.
