Overview
- A person attacked commuters shortly after 7 p.m. on Sunday near the West 33rd Street entrance and the NJ Transit concourse at Penn Station, leaving five to six people wounded and one reported in serious condition.
- Amtrak Police and other officers detained a suspect at the scene and witnesses and video show officers subduing the individual before recovering a knife.
- Officials described the suspect as possibly unhoused or emotionally disturbed and said there is no immediate indication the attack was terrorism-related while investigators review the person’s background.
