Multi-Agency Search Under Way for Woman Missing Near Tina Mayor Estuary

Poor coastal visibility is hindering helicopters and drone teams operating from a regional command post.

Overview

  • The Guardia Civil began local searches late on Sunday, and the Centro de Atención a Emergencias 112 escalated the response into a wider operation coordinated from a Puesto de Mando Avanzado since Monday.
  • Regional rescue crews, Salvamento Marítimo and Cruz Roja have deployed helicopters, boats, two mixed dive teams and ERIES units while GEAS is being prepared to join the underwater search.
  • Land teams include GREIM mountain rescuers, SEPRONA, patrols and volunteer Protección Civil units working with search dogs to comb estuary margins, nearby cliffs and shoreline.
  • A government drone team with three water rescuers is scanning river margins but low coastal visibility and complex estuary tides are limiting aerial coverage and complicating dive operations.
  • No location or recovery has been confirmed and crews continue coordinated searches into today as authorities balance aerial, maritime, subaquatic and canine methods to cover the difficult terrain.
