Mukesh Singh Takes Charge as Manipur DGP

A three-year Centre-approved deputation installs an experienced AGMUT officer who has pledged constitutional policing, impartiality and closer coordination with sister agencies

Mukesh Singh formally assumed charge at Mantripukhri as Manipur’s Director General of Police after a ceremonial Guard of Honour and an introductory meeting with senior officers.
The Centre approved Singh’s three-year inter-cadre deputation from the AGMUT cadre; he succeeds Rajiv Singh, who moved to the Cabinet Secretariat.
Singh is a 1996-batch IPS officer and most recently served as DGP of Ladakh, bringing senior operational experience to the state police leadership.
In his first briefing Singh stressed impartial, professional policing, strict adherence to the Constitution and Rule of Law, and improved coordination with other security and law-enforcement agencies.
The chief minister publicly welcomed the appointment, and officials say the change aims to bolster public confidence and restore normalcy in a state still dealing with the aftereffects of prolonged ethnic violence.
