- Heavy monsoon rains in mid-July sharply raised turbidity in the dams that feed Pune’s water plants, making raw water muddy and harder to clarify.

- PMC officials identified the Parvati treatment plant as particularly strained because incoming turbidity has exceeded its designed treatment capacity.
- Residents in Bibwewadi, Market Yard, Kondhwa and other neighbourhoods reported yellow or muddy taps for three to four days and said some people complained of stomach pain after drinking the water.
