Mt. Washington Man Charged in Wife’s Killing After Police Find Body in Garage

Investigators describe efforts to move the body toward a truck during an ongoing homicide inquiry.

Overview

  • Richard Chesher, 67, was booked into the Bullitt County Detention Center around 3:45 a.m. Saturday on charges of murder–domestic violence, tampering with physical evidence and abuse of a corpse.
  • Police responding to a 9:22 p.m. Friday 9-1-1 call encountered Chesher at an open garage covered in blood and saw his wife on the garage floor.
  • The arrest citation says the victim was badly beaten, wrapped in a garden hose and found with a trail of blood from the home, and a bloody club-like piece of wood was recovered.
  • The Bullitt County coroner said a piece of wood was used to kill the victim and that Chesher had begun moving her toward a truck, with investigators noting a ramp positioned to the truck bed.
  • The home was declared a crime scene, Chesher remains in county jail with no initial court date announced, and neighbors reported a large emergency response and expressed shock after seeing the couple together the day before on a Ring camera video.
