Overview
- MSU Green Energy, which placed the bond on Monday, June 8, completed a US$400 million international Green Bond with a 10-year term and a 9.75% coupon that was reported as oversubscribed.
- The company said the proceeds will strengthen its long-term capital structure and finance new renewable generation and battery energy storage projects across Argentina.
- Global banks BBVA, J.P. Morgan and Santander acted as international joint bookrunners while Balanz, Bull Market, Cucchiara, Galicia, Santander Argentina and ICBC handled local placement duties.
- MSU and its renewable arm say the deal builds on a decade of energy expansion that left the group with about 1,897 MW of hydro, solar and BESS capacity, including the El Chocón–Arroyito complex.
- Market observers view the transaction as a vote of confidence that could speed project timelines, increase access to foreign financing for Argentine infrastructure and support jobs and grid reliability as new assets come online.
