MSI Unveils Claw 8 EX AI+ Powered by Intel’s Arc G3 Extreme

The new 8-inch handheld aims to challenge AMD’s premium devices while real-world sustained performance, cooling, battery life and final pricing remain unconfirmed.

Overview

  • MSI unveiled the Claw 8 EX AI+ on Monday with Intel’s Arc G3 Extreme (Arc B390) at its core, a chip Intel designed with handheld gaming in mind.
  • The device features an 8-inch 1920×1200 IPS display that runs up to 120Hz with VRR and supports Intel XeSS 3 multi-frame generation for smoother frame rates.
  • MSI says the Claw 8 EX AI+ adds Hall-effect sticks and triggers, a refined D-pad, stronger haptics, Xbox Mode with Center M and Copilot+ integration to deliver a more controller-like experience.
  • The Arc G3 Extreme can draw up to a reported 45W when plugged in, so MSI equipped the chassis with Cooler Boost Hyperflow dual fans and heat pipes and an optional large battery to address thermal and endurance demands.
  • MSI has not confirmed final MSRP or ship date though multiple outlets reported a target around $1,500 and a possible June 23 availability, leaving pricing, long-duration performance and battery life as the key open questions for buyers.
