M&S Cuts Prices on 65 Everyday Food Lines in £30m Move

The retailer says lower prices were achieved through supplier investment alongside competitor benchmarking to help households cope with rising food bills.

Overview

  • M&S disclosed Wednesday that it has launched a £30 million programme cutting prices on 65 everyday items across its Remarksable Value, Dropped & Locked and Bigger Pack, Better Value ranges.
  • The reductions cover fresh, store-cupboard and freezer staples with every fresh salmon fillet cut in price and examples including eggs, ketchup, peanut butter and frozen chips.
  • M&S provided detailed item-level pricing and examples such as Caledonian Gold salmon reduced from £5.50 to £4.95 and family salmon packs also lowered.
  • The company says the cuts preserve product quality and were enabled by longer-term supplier agreements and benchmarking against rival prices rather than lowering product standards.
  • M&S frames the move as part of a wider reinvestment plan to grow its food business, drive market share gains, expand its store network and give households cheaper weekly staples.
