Mr. Eyes Leaves Gideon’s Bakehouse as Terribly Odd Closes

The artist’s exit removes the creator of Gideon’s distinctive collectible artwork and leaves the bakery without a public plan for its visual direction.

Overview

  • Michael Reyes, known as Mr. Eyes, said Friday he is stepping away from his work with Gideon’s Bakehouse after more than ten years with the brand.
  • Reyes confirmed that his long-running personal project Terribly Odd has shut down and that its identity will be folded into his Mr. Eyes work, with the Terribly Odd website now showing a 2003–2026 tombstone graphic.
  • He thanked fans and founder Steve Lewis in an Instagram post, teased future projects under the Mr. Eyes name, and directed followers to his Mr. Eyes Art feed while some work remains available through Spooky Cat Press.
  • Gideon’s Bakehouse has not issued a public statement about the departure, so any changes to the bakery’s monthly collectible cookie art, packaging, or release cadence remain unconfirmed and speculative.
  • Reyes’ art helped build Gideon’s fan culture by shaping menus, packaging, and the monthly releases collectors seek, so his exit could alter the shop’s visual identity and the experience of waiting customers and collectors.
