MPS Moves Lincoln Avenue Students to Pulaski High for 2026–27 School Year

Preserving the neighborhood school community, the shift keeps students enrolled and on their current bus routes as investigators probe the June 30 fire.

Overview

  • Milwaukee Public Schools announced Friday that the entire Lincoln Avenue School community will temporarily relocate to Casimir Pulaski High School for the 2026–27 year to keep students together.
  • District leaders said students who now receive bus service will continue to get transportation to Pulaski and current Lincoln Avenue students will retain their enrollment for the coming school year.
  • At Pulaski, MPS plans separate entrances, offices and cafeteria space so elementary operations remain distinct from high school activities and schedules will stay the same for Lincoln families.
  • Superintendent Brenda Cassellius said the damaged 1917 Lincoln Avenue building is being prepared for demolition but it is too soon to know whether the school will be rebuilt, and the City of Milwaukee will coordinate long‑term decisions while fire investigators continue their probe.
  • MPS held listening sessions on July 13 and 14 at the Boys & Girls Club at Rogers Street Academy, and parents have raised concerns about continuity for children who walk to the neighborhood school and for students with special needs as the district works through operational details.
