MP High Court Judges Inspect Bhojshala–Kamal Maula Site Ahead of Case Hearing

The Supreme Court will first hear a challenge to the judges’ visit.

Overview

  • Two judges from the Indore bench inspected the Dhar complex Saturday, spending about an hour on site under tight security.
  • They examined pillars and inscriptions with ASI officials, and Collector Priyank Mishra and SP Mayank Awasthi accompanied the team.
  • The bench had barred petitioners from attending the visit under a March 16 order setting the case for April 2.
  • The Maulana Kamaluddin Welfare Society has moved the Supreme Court to challenge the inspection order, with a hearing listed for April 1 before Chief Justice Surya Kant and two judges.
  • The monument dates to the 11th century and is protected by the Archaeological Survey of India, and an ASI survey ordered in 2022 is now open on record after the Supreme Court allowed unsealing and objections.
