Mountain Village Mayor Resigns as Town Weighs Probe of Telluride Resort Deal Talks

Her exit follows a push to scrutinize late-December talks with owner Chuck Horning over a proposed transfer of control during the ski patrol strike.

Marti Prohaska resigned effective immediately after being told the Mountain Village council would pursue a private review of her December discussions with Telluride Ski Resort’s owner.
Telluride’s council plans to consider a third-party inquiry into Councilmember Meehan Fee’s role, with a discussion expected at a Jan. 20 meeting.
Prohaska and Fee say they traveled as private citizens to Newport Beach from Dec. 27–30 and presented a $127.5 million offer for a 51% stake via a proposed Telluride Ski Resort Fund.
Resort spokesperson Nancy Clark confirmed an offer was presented but said the ski area is not for sale, and Horning’s lawyers filed Colorado Open Records Act requests seeking related government correspondence.
The December talks coincided with a 13-day ski patrol strike that closed the mountain and later settled, and Mountain Village leaders will select a new mayor in the coming month.
