Motorcyclist Severely Injured in Kesselberg Crash After 40-Meter Ejection

A two-hour multi-agency rescue ended with an airlift to hospital.

Overview

  • Police report that a 28-year-old from Penzberg lost control at inappropriate speed, struck a guardrail, and was hurled into a steep wooded slope.
  • The local fire brigade says he was thrown about 40 meters and hit a tree roughly three meters above the ground, leaving debris in the branches.
  • Rescuers reached the patient using ladders and a rope railing, transferred him to a rescue basket with a vacuum mattress, and hoisted him up for evacuation.
  • The Christoph Murnau helicopter flew the severely injured rider to hospital; the B11 was temporarily closed and damage to the motorcycle is estimated at about €15,000.
  • This was reported as the first motorcycle crash at Kesselberg this year; a daily uphill riding ban for motorbikes returns on April 1, and a witness at the scene required treatment for shock.
