Overview
- An explosion around 8:30 a.m. on December 23 destroyed a pavillon on rue Paul-Cézanne in Magny-les-Hameaux, sending a 39-year-old woman and her children aged 2, 4 and 5 to hospital in critical condition.
- Debris was hurled up to roughly 100 meters and 67 firefighters secured the scene as searches confirmed no additional victims.
- Neighbors and a municipal employee, including a man identified as Rachid, pulled the occupants from the wreckage, and authorities set up an assistance center and a medico-psychological support cell.
- Gas service in the area was cut as a precaution, several nearby homes were declared uninhabitable, displaced residents were relocated, and structural inspections are ongoing.
- The inquiry was entrusted to the Rambouillet research brigade, and as of December 24 officials reported the victims in serious but stable condition while experts examine the site.
