Overview
- Police materials report that since the Sept. 1 launch of the 'Amina' pilot, 139,236 people were deregistered for failing to provide required location data.
- Under the rules, going more than three working days without transmitting geolocation after the last check leads to removal from the register and placement in a controlled-persons registry.
- The pilot requires certain foreign nationals working in Moscow and the Moscow region to install the 'Amina' mobile app that shares their location with authorities.
- Mandatory installation applies to citizens of Uzbekistan, Tajikistan, Kyrgyzstan, Armenia, Kazakhstan, Georgia, Azerbaijan, Moldova and Ukraine arriving for work.
- Users are instructed to open the app daily, keep geolocation permissions and push notifications enabled, and can receive setup assistance at the Sakharovo migration center.
