Moscow Exchange to Launch Five Ruble-Settled Crypto Perpetual Futures

This keeps trading and settlement inside Russia’s ruble-based financial system for qualified investors.

Overview

  • Moscow Exchange will begin trading five new perpetual-style futures on Tuesday, Sept. 22 tied to BTC, ETH, SOL, XRP and TRX indexes under the symbols BTCUSDF, ETHUSDF, SOLUSDF, XRPUSDF and TRXUSDF.
  • Each contract is legally a one-day cash-settled future with automatic daily rollover and a daily funding adjustment to keep prices aligned with the exchange indexes.
  • The contracts are quoted in US dollars but require collateral, variation margin and final settlement in Russian rubles and do not deliver the underlying cryptocurrencies or use stablecoins.
  • Access is restricted to investors classed as qualified under Russian rules, reflecting a May 2025 Bank of Russia policy that permits crypto-linked instruments only when they forbid token delivery.
  • Since MOEX launched its first crypto derivatives in summer 2025, more than 72,000 qualified investors have traded the platform and cumulative turnover has passed RUB 600 billion, and the new contracts will test whether that base deepens onshore liquidity.
