Moschino Names Sunnei Founders as Co‑Creative Directors

The move is intended to modernize Moschino’s irreverent identity as a market signal during Aeffe’s negotiated restructuring.

Overview

  • Loris Messina and Simone Rizzo, founders of Milan label Sunnei, have been appointed co‑creative directors of Moschino and will present their first collection at Milan Fashion Week in September.
  • The pair succeed Adrian Appiolaza, who left Moschino last week after two and a half years leading the house.
  • Messina and Rizzo are known for playful, satirical showmanship and for scaling Sunnei after a 2020 majority stake sale to the Vanguards Group.
  • Aeffe, Moschino’s parent, has told shareholders the brand was insolvent and carried out major layoffs; the group has named Riccardo Bagolin general manager and put Stefano Falliti in charge of restructuring.
  • The appointment is meant to reassure buyers and investors but the new team’s success will hinge on Aeffe’s restructuring, available resources, and commercial response at the September debut.
