Mortal Kombat: Legacy Kollection Adds Cross-Platform Play, 2v2 Online and VRR in April Update

The studio calls this the last round of big features with ongoing bug-fix updates planned.

Overview

  • Krossplay now lets players on PlayStation, Xbox, Switch and PC match together in Quick Play and Online Arcade, and the setting is off by default until enabled in the online options.
  • Official 2-on-2 tag matches are live for Ultimate Mortal Kombat 3 on Arcade and SNES, Mortal Kombat Trilogy on PS1, and Mortal Kombat 4 on Arcade.
  • Variable Refresh Rate is available on PS5, Xbox Series X|S, Xbox One X|S, Switch 2 in handheld mode, and PC to better match the original arcade frame rates and reduce perceived input lag.
  • The original Switch cannot use cross-platform play for Mortal Kombat Trilogy, and several notes say online play for Mortal Kombat 4 is also not supported on that console due to technical limits.
  • Quality-of-life fixes include stage select before online matches, a working minimum-connection filter for rooms, protection against accidental Kombat Kard replay deletion, improved localization, and a request for player feedback via Discord.
