MorningStar Farms Recalls Two Frozen Items Over Possible Plastic Contamination

Company says customer complaints prompted the voluntary pull and it has tightened quality controls after investigating the affected batches.

  • MorningStar Farms announced on June 18 a voluntary recall of Buffalo Chik'n Nuggets and Hot & Spicy Sausage Patties after customers reported possible pieces of plastic in the products.
  • The recall covers 10.5-ounce Buffalo Chik'n Nuggets (UPC 000 28989 10110 5, best if used by July 7–8, 2027) and 8-ounce Hot & Spicy Sausage Patties (UPC 000 28989 10094 8, best if used by July 5–7, 2027).
  • Affected packages were distributed in the United States, Puerto Rico and Costa Rica and were carried by major retailers nationwide.
  • Consumers who bought the listed packages should not eat them, should discard the product and can contact MorningStar Farms Consumer Affairs at 800-962-0120 or text 877-453-5837 for a full refund.
  • The U.S. Food and Drug Administration posted the recall notice, the company says no injuries have been reported, and officials note foreign-material recalls are common and can pose choking or injury risks depending on the size of the material.
