Moorhead Parents Arrested After Child Distributed High-Potency THC at Middle School

Prosecutors say evidence points to a home-run sales operation that supplied the student and seized drugs and cash are expected to support felony charges.

Overview

  • School staff and a resource officer responded to Horizon Middle School East after about 12 students showed symptoms from unknown candy and two were taken to the hospital on Monday.
  • Investigators reviewed video showing a 12-year-old handing out strips, and a student urine test later returned positive for THC.
  • Testing reported the candy strips contained about 300 mg of THC per strip, a level far higher than typical single-serve edibles.
  • Police executed a search warrant at the family home and seized suspected THC flower, cartridges, wax, roughly 600 grams of psilocybin, packaging, scales and about $73,000 in cash.
  • Martin Jay Hulst and Amanda Rhae Hulst were arrested after arriving at the Fargo airport and now face multiple felony counts including intent to sell drugs and child endangerment while the children from the home have been referred to county social services.
