Moores Furniture Group Enters Administration as Wren Purchases Customer Assets

Rising costs and weak housebuilding triggered a pre-pack sale that gives affected customers a route to move outstanding orders to Wren.

Overview

  • Interpath’s James Clark and Will Wright were appointed joint administrators on January 19 and immediately sold Moores’ customer list and selected IP to Wren Trade Kitchens.
  • Administrators retained 336 employees on a short-term basis to complete work in progress and made 124 redundancies with support routed through the Redundancy Payments Service.
  • Wren secured an exclusive option enabling customers to transfer outstanding contracts to its business without changes to price or delivery schedules, according to its statement.
  • Wren said it will explore offering roles to a significant number of Moores’ sales, operations and support staff as the administrators wind down remaining activities.
  • Company filings show losses of £7.4m in 2023 and £9.18m in 2024 with sales down 8.3% to £58.2m, reflecting sector pressures from higher input costs and slower housebuilding.
