- Gov. Wes Moore signed more than 140 bills into law at the first post-session ceremony, with additional signing events expected.
- The Jillian and Lindsay Weiner Short-Term Rental Safety Act requires many short-stay properties to post emergency numbers, provide evacuation plans and fire extinguishers, and maintain smoke and carbon monoxide alarms by Oct. 1, with certain inspections reported to the State Fire Marshal.
- The Vax Act empowers Maryland’s health secretary to issue vaccine and screening guidance based on state-reviewed science, and insurers must cover those recommendations starting July 1.
- House Bill 284 requires licensed gun dealers to alert State Police leadership within 24 hours if they learn of specified crimes or compromised security features at their businesses, taking effect Oct. 1.
- House Bill 286 expands the ignition interlock program by requiring drivers with alcohol-related suspensions or revocations to use a breathalyzer-linked starter device starting Oct. 1, and leaders said the broader session also advanced affordability, energy and immigration measures.
