Montgomery Advertiser Opens Voting for Boys and Girls Athletes of the Week
Fans will choose April 27–May 1 standouts in a poll closing at noon Thursday.

- The fan poll, which opened Sunday, remains live through noon Thursday, May 7, with winners to be announced Friday, May 8.
- Boys nominees include Pike Road’s Will Ballard for a two-RBI playoff game, Trinity’s Land Sharpless for a complete game with one earned run, Stanhope Elmore’s Cavarous Ellis for a three-run homer, Saint James’ Hunter Hassell for a three-goal playoff win, and Montgomery Catholic’s Cayden Dees for a 4A discus state title at 156-06.
- Girls nominees feature Saint James’ Kaylin Corley for a two-goal playoff win, Prattville Christian’s Megan Masters for five RBIs in an area tournament, Montgomery Catholic’s Haley Ishman for nine RBIs with a home run, Brewbaker Tech’s Kaymarria Bandy for a 3-for-3 game with two RBIs, and Wetumpka’s Kyla Richardson for a home run and four RBIs.
- Nominees come from statistics submitted by high school coaches or team stat keepers, who can email entries to sports@montgomeryadvertiser.com for future weeks.
