- Fabio Sementilli, a Canadian-born celebrity hairstylist, was found stabbed outside his Woodland Hills home after his 16-year-old daughter’s 911 call in January 2017, in what an LAPD detective called a surprise attack.
- Investigators first treated the scene as a possible robbery because his Porsche was missing, though nearby cameras later showed two figures near the home and the family’s own video system had been tampered with.
- Police recovered the Porsche about five miles away and matched DNA inside the car to Robert Baker, a personal trainer linked to Monica Sementilli, after witnesses also reported seeing the pair together.
- After 2017 arrests, Baker changed his plea to no contest in 2023 and received a life sentence, and detectives later found Christopher Austin, who confessed to acting with Baker and was sentenced to life.
