MoFPI Unveils Food Processing Roadmap as Udaipur Chintan Shivir Concludes

Officials called for time-bound implementation to raise farmer incomes, cut waste, boost exports.

The two-day MoFPI Chintan Shivir in Udaipur ended on January 20 with a strategic plan to position India as a global processed foods leader.
Recommendations included creating a National Food Processing Promotion Council and introducing a Bharat Quality Food Mark for assurance and branding.
The event brought together 22 central ministries, 27 states and UTs, over 30 industry representatives, academic institutions, NIFTEMs and Invest India.
Focus areas spanned integrated value chains, expanded processing and cold-chain capacity, MSME scaling, streamlined regulation, AI-enabled monitoring and a unified digital platform.
MoFPI released publications on technology advances and Startup Grant Challenge successes as Minister Chirag Paswan urged coordinated, time-bound execution across stakeholders.
