It is his first trip since the relationship was elevated to a Comprehensive Strategic Partnership in 2024.

  • An agreement between India’s NPCI and Malaysia’s PayNet is expected during the visit, with the 10th India–Malaysia CEO Forum scheduled in parallel.
  • Officials signalled several MoUs are likely, including cooperation on semiconductors, disaster management, seafarer certification, anti-corruption measures and healthcare, with a joint review of the CECA under discussion.
  • Defence collaboration is being explored, including a potential Dornier aircraft sale, Scorpene submarine mid-life upgrades and retrofits, Su-30 upgrades and options for naval platforms from Indian shipyards.
  • India plans to raise the extradition of Zakir Naik, which officials said remains subject to technical and judicial processes in Malaysia.
