Modern Warfare 4 Early Access Beta Goes Live with Playable Campaign Mission and Cross‑Platform Tests

The two‑week test will stress technical performance across consoles and PC while preserving beta progression as unlocks for the October 23 launch.

Overview

  • Preloads are live and the pre‑order gated Early Access beta begins Friday, Aug. 21 for PS5, Xbox Series X|S and PC with access codes or platform pre‑orders required for some users.
  • An Open Beta running from Aug. 28 to Sept. 1 will add Nintendo Switch 2 support plus Warzone’s Zodiac Resurgence map and additional Ground War maps for all players to download free.
  • For the first time in a Call of Duty beta, a full single‑player mission, “Entrenched,” is playable so testers can experience campaign combat alongside multiplayer modes.
  • Multiplayer testing highlights a new adaptive map called Kill Block that can generate more than 500 configurations, a slate of 6v6 maps and new modes designed to probe gunplay, movement and match balance.
  • PC changes include background shader pre‑compilation to cut launch waits and a requirement for TPM 2.0 with Secure Boot, a combination that may improve security but limit play on older systems.
