Modern Warfare 4 Beta Lets Players Try a Campaign Mission and Arrives on Switch 2

Activision is using a two-weekend beta as a live stress test and a way to expose more players to the game's single-player content ahead of the October launch.

Overview

  • Activision confirmed on August 17 that Modern Warfare 4 will run a two-weekend beta with Early Access from August 21–25 for pre-orders and an Open Beta from August 28–September 1.
  • For the first time in a Call of Duty beta, the playable campaign mission Entrenched is available to testers during both weekends so more players can sample single-player content.
  • The Early Access weekend on PC, PlayStation 5 and Xbox Series X/S includes five 6v6 maps, the Kill Block 3v3/10v10 mode, and a Training Mobility Course.
  • The Open Beta adds Nintendo Switch 2 support plus larger-scale tests: Warzone Resurgence on the Zodiac map, Ground War on Imjin Farmland and Wolves Stadium, and an extra multiplayer map (Lithium).
  • The beta launch is timed to start immediately after the Call of Duty: NEXT showcase to drive immediate player uptake and to test servers, cross-play, and large modes before the full release on October 23, 2026.
