Modern Warfare 4 Beta Includes Campaign, Warzone and Expanded Multiplayer

The two-weekend test is designed to vet server performance, cross-play, player reaction, content readiness before the October launch

Overview

  • The beta runs across two weekends with Early Access for pre-orders starting Aug. 21 and an Open Beta expanding to all players from Aug. 28 to Sept. 1, providing staggered, controlled testing across platforms.
  • For the first time in franchise history the Early Access weekend and the Open Beta both include a playable single-player mission called Entrenched so players can sample the campaign before launch.
  • Warzone content is limited to the Open Beta, which adds the new Resurgence map Zodiac and large-scale Ground War modes, and Nintendo Switch 2 support arrives only during that second weekend.
  • Activision confirmed the DMZ extraction mode will be withheld from both beta weekends and will only be available at full release on Oct. 23, with a separate pre-order campaign early-access window set to begin Oct. 16.
  • The beta doubles as a technical and marketing move: it stresses servers and cross-play across PS5, Xbox Series X|S, PC and Switch 2, offers promotions such as CoD Next giveaways and Discord Nitro codes, and gives players early evidence to guide purchase and feedback decisions.
