MOC Clears Neeraj Chopra’s 47-Day Switzerland Camp Under TOPS

Government funding signals a tight, targeted push to ready key medal hopes before two major multi-sport events.

Overview

  • Neeraj Chopra, whose plan won approval at the Mission Olympic Cell’s 173rd meeting on Wednesday, will train in Bienne from May 25 to July 10 with coach Jai Choudhary and physio Ishaan Marwaha.
  • The Sports Authority of India said TOPS will pay for travel, lodging, food, visa, medical cover, extra baggage for his javelin and a treatment bed, plus a USD 25 daily allowance.
  • Chopra has been rehabbing a back injury in Turkiye and has yet to compete in 2026, so this block ends about two weeks before the Glasgow Commonwealth Games, which open July 23.
  • The MOC also sanctioned Manu Bhaker’s training in Lucca from May 13 to 22 with coach Jaspal Rana and physio Snehil Khurana, with costs and range fees covered for her Asian Games build-up since shooting is not on the CWG program.
  • Long-distance runner Gulveer Singh received a 34-day US stint from May 15 to June 17 that includes races in Los Angeles and Nashville as part of India’s broader pre-Games foreign exposure push.
