Overview
- Major League Baseball, Phillies Charities and local partners led a hands-on refurbishment of the Shane Victorino Nicetown Boys & Girls Club in North Philadelphia as part of All‑Star Week efforts.
- The project, which took place Saturday, mobilized dozens to more than 100 volunteers according to different outlets and included former major leaguers working alongside community members.
- Volunteers painted rooms, assembled furniture, packed backpacks and hygiene kits, restored green spaces, and raked and regraded the nearby baseball infield.
- The Pennsylvania Horticultural Society unveiled its new PHS Garden Mobile at the event to bring gardening education, fresh produce and planting supplies to neighborhoods across the city.
- The club, renamed with help from the Shane Victorino Foundation in 2011, is one of Philadelphia’s busiest Boys & Girls Club locations and organizers say the work supports ongoing youth programming and MLB Together’s Legacy community pledge.
