Overview
- A 3×8 ft wooden plank that witnesses said fell Monday from the Line 4 structure dented Dr Anita Mathew’s car on LBS Road about 10 metres from the February fatal crash site, and she was not hurt.
- MMRDA said it has no record of material falling or of work underway at that spot and it has asked its General Consultant to investigate the report.
- Local MLA Mihir Kotecha alleged ongoing negligence at the site and urged MMRDA to terminate the contractor, post engineers on 24×7 duty, and push police to file a case.
- The stretch is being built by a Reliance Infrastructure–Astaldi joint venture with Milan Road Buildtech as subcontractor, and consultant DB Hill LBG remains on the job after an earlier fine.
- After the February 14 collapse that killed one person and injured three, MMRDA halted work, ordered an inquiry, levied fines totalling Rs 6 crore on the contractor and consultant, and five arrests followed.
