Mizoram Launches 24 MW Tuirini Hydro Project With Foundation Ceremony

- Chief Minister Lalduhoma laid the foundation stone at Sesawng in Aizawl district on January 19.
- The Rs 676.98 crore small hydro project is structured as an externally aided scheme funded by a New Development Bank loan with an 80% Centre and 20% state cost share.
- Officials have set a five-year target for completing the 24 MW facility.
- The launch builds on state-owned solar additions, including a 10 MW Thenzawl plant commissioned in December and a 5 MW Sumsuih plant under construction.
- The government highlights Rs 172 crore in revenue and Rs 87.21 crore net profit from power trading as it advances EOIs for five solar sites, DPRs for Tuivai and Tlawng hydel projects, and pump-storage planning near the Vankal solar park.
