A Rs 127 crore SASCI package funds seven projects to expand Mizoram’s hostels for working women from eight to 15.

  • The Khatla hostel is part of seven new sites sanctioned under the Centre’s Special Assistance to States for Capital Investment 2024–25.
  • Officials said the state’s network will grow to 15 operational hostels once the new projects are completed.

  • Construction has begun at several locations except Champhai, and the Chief Minister acknowledged Mizo Hmeichhe Tangrual’s role in the Khatla hostel’s origins and management.
