Overview
- Milwaukee police on Friday released body- and dash-camera video from a March 12 south-side stop near South 15th and West Grant that shows an officer on a moving flatbed truck before he shot driver Jonathan Otto.
- The videos capture the officer ordering Otto to stop and warning he would shoot, while a partner’s dashcam audio reports his partner hanging on the truck at about 30 miles per hour.
- Otto, 35, was struck by the gunfire and died, and the officer was treated at a hospital for nonfatal injuries from the moving encounter.
- Police identified the officer as a 46-year-old with more than 21 years on the force, and he is on administrative leave under department policy.
- Officials say Otto was wanted on a parole violation and on allegations of assault and strangulation, and West Allis police are leading the investigation.
