Milwaukee Police Release Video of Fatal Shootout After 35th and National Chase

An outside investigative team is reviewing the April 13 shooting.

Overview

  • Milwaukee police published about three and a half minutes of body-worn and dash-camera video Tuesday that shows the end of a pursuit and a shootout on the 35th Street bridge.
  • Officers had been tracking a silver sedan linked to a homicide that morning when a 4:45 p.m. stop attempt turned into a chase and a crash near 35th Street and West National Avenue.
  • After the crash, police say the driver got out and fired at them, and eight officers returned fire in the exchange.
  • The 31-year-old, identified by the Milwaukee County Medical Examiner as Nicholas Maslowski, was taken to a hospital where he died from his injuries.
  • A 34-year-old involved in the crash had non-fatal injuries, and the Wauwatosa Police Department is leading the Milwaukee Area Investigative Team review with the eight officers on administrative duty.
