Milwaukee Police Name Suspect Vehicle in Fatal Teutonia Avenue Hit-and-Run

A black 2007–2014 GMC Yukon likely with front-end damage has been identified as the vehicle involved and police are asking the public for tips.

Overview

  • Two longtime friends, 49-year-old Amy Austin and 48-year-old May Daiber, were struck and killed by a speeding vehicle while crossing Teutonia Avenue near Vienna Avenue just after 11 p.m. on Sunday night.
  • The Milwaukee County Medical Examiner confirmed the victims’ identities and investigators say the crash involved a speeding vehicle that fled the scene.
  • Milwaukee police now describe the suspect vehicle as a black 2007–2014 GMC Yukon with possible damage to the front grille, bumper and passenger-side headlight and a missing GMC emblem.
  • Witnesses at nearby Shananigans said the women were holding hands when the black, suburban-style SUV hit them and did not brake before leaving the scene.
  • Police are asking anyone with information to call Milwaukee Police, submit anonymous tips to Crime Stoppers or use the P3 Tips app, and the community of friends and local pool leagues are seeking accountability and justice.
