Milford Police Adopt Senior Stray Rescued From Sub-Zero Porch

Following the shelter hold with no owner claim, the department made the station his home.

Overview

  • Officers responded on Feb. 1 to a report of a stray on a Milford porch in sub-zero temperatures and brought the dog to the station.
  • After social media posts produced no leads, he completed a weeklong hold with Oakland County Animal Control before the department adopted him as Lil’ Craig.
  • Veterinarians estimate he is about 9 years old with missing teeth and limited hearing, and he is recovering from medical and dental procedures as well as a cold.
  • He now lives at the police station, roaming the halls, greeting visitors, and providing morale and stress relief for staff.
  • Police credit a resident who first spotted him and thank Oakland County Animal Control, Premier Pet Supply Milford, and Dr. Carrie Tokar of VCS Milford for their support.
