- Police say officers found Sanders slumped over in the driver’s seat of a Lexus stopped in the middle of William Penn Highway on June 8 and that he appeared lethargic and partly unresponsive.
- Court records and the criminal complaint say Sanders admitted to drinking, performed poorly on standardized field sobriety tests, tested positive on a portable breath test, and a sealed package of suspected marijuana was found in the vehicle.
- Charges were formally filed in Allegheny County on Aug. 20, the case became public in late August, and a preliminary hearing previously set for September was continued to Oct. 28.
