Overview
- A 22-year-old man, Lamin Saidilly, was arrested after a 55-year-old was stabbed about twenty times in Milan and investigators say the arrest was validated and pretrial detention ordered by the judge on Tuesday.
- The judge described the assault as “eccentric and apparently senseless,” cited the suspect’s reported remark “Mi sono divertito, appena esco lo rifaccio” as alarming, and ordered a psychiatric assessment to clarify his mental state.
- Police from Digos seized handwritten A4 pages at Saidilly’s home that reportedly mention a will to commit violence with knives, and those pages are now under forensic examination.
- Investigators also reviewed a WhatsApp profile image showing an armed Islamic guerrilla but say there is currently no concrete evidence of Islamist radicalization and the court has excluded premeditation at this stage.
- The case remains under active inquiry with prosecutors charging attempted murder aggravated by 'futili motivi', and authorities have pointed to a risk of repetition or flight as the reason for keeping the suspect in San Vittore prison.
