Overview
- Andrew Malone, 52, was sentenced at Teesside Crown Court on Thursday to two years in prison and was given an indefinite restraining order.
- He had pleaded guilty to threatening to kill his mother, intentional strangulation, and assault occasioning actual bodily harm.
- The strangulation happened on October 15 last year after his mother refused to drive him to the gym, and she escaped, sought help from a relative, and called police.
- Prosecutors said he also pointed a knife at her and said, “I’ll do 20 years and spit on your grave,” and on another day threatened to burn her house with her inside.
- The court heard the abuse stretched back to 2024 when police were first called and he bent an officer’s finger during his arrest, and the judge noted the victim said she thought she was going to die.
